What we do

Areas
of practice

The firm works in six practice areas, from criminal defense to business law, with real estate handled in partnership with Convergence Avocats. This page sets them out, shows where they meet and describes how we work.

Six practice areas
Connected areas

One question often hides another.

Clients rarely come with a single question. The first one they ask is not always the one that will decide their matter.

Criminal, civil and negotiation

Criminal proceedings establish the facts, civil proceedings put a figure on the loss, and sometimes the matter is settled around a table.

Contracts and litigation

The clauses we draft are the ones we see argued in court, so warranties, liability, termination and jurisdiction are written with the judge who may one day construe them in mind.

Business and criminal exposure

A management decision may one day be read by a prosecutor, and it is better that a lawyer who knows that perspective has read it first.

Technology, AI and governance

Before it is a technical matter, bringing AI into a business is a question of governance, since it means settling who decides, on what data, with which providers and under whose responsibility.

Digital assets and criminal proceedings

Stolen cryptocurrency can be traced on the blockchain, and criminal proceedings make it possible to have it frozen where it has landed.

In detail
How we work

What you can expect from the firm

01

A partner on every matter

Every matter is led by a partner, who remains your point of contact from the first meeting to the outcome. Key work is never fully delegated.

02

Fees set out in advance

A first 45-minute meeting at CHF 200, deducted from the first invoice if you retain us. After that, an hourly rate of CHF 300 to 450 depending on seniority and complexity, or a fixed fee per phase, agreed in writing before any step is taken.

03

Three working languages

French, English and German, spoken and written, for clients based in Switzerland or abroad.

04

Beyond Geneva

Matters in several cantons, cross-border cases between France and Switzerland with Aurélien Rocher, attorney at the Lyon Bar, and correspondents brought in when a matter crosses borders.

Frequently asked questions

Before you contact us

Where do I start if my situation involves several areas?

With a single meeting. One matter often has both a criminal and a civil side, such as a fraud that also calls for a claim against the bank, or a dispute between partners that leads to a criminal complaint. We handle both sides together, with one strategy.

How much does a first meeting cost?

CHF 200 for 45 minutes, at the firm or remotely, deducted from the first invoice if you retain us. You leave with the legal characterization of your situation, the deadlines that are running and the next steps.

Do you act outside Geneva?

Yes. The firm handles matters in several cantons and, with Aurélien Rocher, cross-border cases between France and Switzerland. For other countries, we coordinate the matter with local counsel.

Can my legal expenses insurance cover the fees?

Often. Once judicial or administrative proceedings are needed, or in the event of a conflict of interest, you are free to choose your lawyer (Art. 167 of the Insurance Supervision Ordinance). Tell us your insurer and we will check the cover and make the request.

What should I do in an emergency?

Call +41 22 512 76 00 rather than writing or booking online, whether it is an arrest, a search, a hearing set at short notice or a deadline about to expire.

Our approach

The
in concreto approach

Beyond our areas of practice, our working method sets the firm apart. We start from the reality of the case, its facts, its documents and the client’s goals, before choosing the rule and the procedure.
